When designing and constructing intelligent multi-span greenhouses, various factors of the land should be fully considered, such as the thickness of the permafrost layer at the construction site, the nature of the foundation soil, the location of the bearing stratum, and the bearing strength. A flat terrain is conducive to cost savings and management. At the same time, a steep slope within the same greenhouse can affect the uniformity of indoor temperature, while an excessively shallow ground slope can impede drainage in the greenhouse. Generally, a slope of no more than 1° is appropriate for the ground. It is advisable to avoid constructing greenhouse clusters on slopes leaning towards the north, which can block sunlight and increase the footprint.
When designing a glass greenhouse, geological survey should be conducted in advance to avoid uneven settlement caused by local weak zones, foundations with different bearing capacities, and other factors, ensuring the safety of the greenhouse. Currently, the majority of common greenhouse collapses and deformations, as well as damaged greenhouses, have neglected the impact of geological conditions on the greenhouse before construction, especially the impact of permafrost on the foundation of the greenhouse.
